This is an Acorn RISC OS software application that finds/searches for character strings in multiples/directories. It is available for free download.
After having downloaded and unzipped the !FindStrng Application, drag the application to a suitable directory on your hard disc. Double click on the !FindStrng icon to load it onto the icon bar.
Drag files/directories to the bar icon to enter their names into the main 'SetUp' panel slot. Alternatively clicking on the bar icon brings up the main 'SetUp' panel and the file/directory can be dragged to this panel, or the names can be typed manually into the slot at the top of this panel.
Select options from the 'SetUp' panel, in particular whether you are processing files or directories, and supply the character string to be searched for in the lower slot on the displayed panel. Then click on the 'Run' icon. After a while a report is offered for saving in the same directory first supplied file, but with the leaf name prefixed by a capital 'F'.
Version 2.00 now admits of asterisk '*' wild card, matching any string of up to ten characters (including none), and a hash '#' wild card, matching any string of numerals.
Please read the text file '!ReadMe' with this application for conditions of use.
Additional Help is available from the bar icon menu, or by using the Acorn facility !Help, present in your 'Apps' directory.
